Moranbah Momentum

Moranbah Momentum

We’ve been investing heavily in our Moranbah capability – and it’s paying off.

With our specialist AN storage facility now open (the only one of its kind in the region) alongside our long-established emulsion plant, we’re now able to offer clients everything they need for blasting – right on their doorstep.

That means faster turnarounds, greater efficiency and more responsive service. And the results are already showing.

With three major contracts recently secured or extended nearby, our footprint in Central Queensland is growing fast – and clients are telling us just how valuable local supply really is.

Blair Athol Contract Extended

We’re proud to share that our full-service contract at Blair Athol Mine has been extended for another two years. This marks a strong continuation of our partnership with Terracom, built over the past two years on reliability, performance and trust.

Terracom’s decision to stay with Platinum reflects the consistent value our team delivers on site – and their confidence in us to support their next phase of growth.

New Start at Vitrinite Vulcan

We kicked off operations at Vitrinite’s Vulcan Mine in July under an initial one-year contract.

Vitrinite came to us looking for a collaborative partner – and from day one, we’ve worked closely with their team to ensure a smooth and positive transition. Initially a full-service contract, the arrangement is designed to evolve, with Vitrinite gradually taking more scope in-house over time.

Platinum will continue to provide labour and bulk explosives supply, including our Hydra R reactive ground emulsion, manufactured just 40km away at our Moranbah facility. That close proximity has been a real advantage, particularly given the site’s challenging ground conditions.

Campaign-Based Contract at Broadlea Mine

We kicked off work at Broadlea Mine last month under a new full-service, campaign-based contract with Fitzroy. With no on-site storage, our team is mobilising and demobilising as required – a setup that highlights the value of our flexibility and responsiveness.

Our latest blast, fired on 29 August, was a substantial one: a four-day load and fire using 180 tonnes of product. It delivered a strong result, and with a happy client, planning is already underway for the next campaign in the coming months.

New Contract at Broadlea Quarry

We’ve also just secured a new contract on the same Broadlea Mine site – this time at the Broadlea Quarry, operated by Sole Resources. They’re still getting set up, but we’ll be providing a full-service package that includes engineering and design, surveying, down-the-hole services, and drilling (subcontracted through SMW Drilling Services).
