Breaking Stereotypes in Mining: Heidi’s Story
We’re proud to have incredible women like Heidi Pomeroy leading the way and helping to break down stereotypes in the mining industry. As part of International Women’s Day last month, Heidi, who works at our AN facility in Bajool, spoke about how she’s contributing to an industry that powers essential resources while challenging the norms.
“It’s rewarding to challenge stereotypes and develop skills in a field that’s traditionally been male-dominated,” Heidi says. “Problem-solving, adaptability, and resilience are key to the success of our facility, and I feel empowered and valued through the trust and responsibility I’ve been given.”
Heidi’s excited about the shift happening in the industry, where women are stepping into leadership roles. “It’s an exciting time to be part of that shift,” she shares.
Her advice to other women looking to join the industry is simple:
“Seek out mentors, connect with others, and don’t be afraid to dive in. Mining can be tough, but it’s also incredibly rewarding. Your perspective matters, and your contributions will make a real difference.”
We couldn’t agree more! Women like you are inspiring change in the industry, and we’re lucky to have you as part of our team.
