TRAINEE PROGRAM

TRAINEE
PROGRAM

Ready to break into the mining industry
but not sure where to start?

Our Trainee program has got you covered,
taking you from novice to Support Shotfirer
to MPU (Mobile Processing Unit) Operator in
just two years. Each stage, spanning around
six months, offers a carefully designed
learning experience that goes at your pace.

  • STAGE ONE:
    BLAST CREW TRAINEE

This foundational phase sets the groundwork for your
career in the blasting industry. Begin with essential
inductions and safety training, then delve into product
transfer, support Shotfiring, and the safe handling and
    transportation of explosives.

  • STAGE TWO:
    SUPPORT SHOTFIRER

Shadow our on-site Shotfirer while honing site-specific competencies such as Stemming Truck, Dewaterer, and Wheel Loader operations.

  • STAGE THREE:
    TRAINEE MPU OPERATOR

Now you’re a qualified Support Shotfirer, it’s time to
learn how to operate our MPUs. You’ll gain competencies
in operating heavy rigid vehicles and the mobile mixing
    of explosives during this stage.

  • STAGE FOUR:
    MPU OPERATOR

In this final stage, step into the role of an MPU Operator,
accumulating practical training hours to become a fully
    qualified Operator.

No qualifications or prior mining experience are needed to apply for our Trainee program.
If you have a can-do attitude and the hunger to forge a career in blasting, we want to hear from you.

We recruit trainees twice a year. Sign up to be notified when applications open for our next intake.

INTRODUCING
HOLLY GRAHAM

INTRODUCING
HOLLY GRAHAM

Before joining our Trainee program,
Holly was navigating the world of car
parts at Autobarn, never expecting to
set foot on a mine site.

Fast forward two years, and Holly is a fully fledged MPU Operator,
showing new Trainees the ropes. With her sights set on becoming
a Shotfirer, Holly loves the new career she is building in blasting.

“I began my Trainee program knowing next to
nothing about mining or what a blast crew did, and
I wasn’t expected to. Platinum supported me at every
step, patiently training me at my own pace. I’m really
grateful to have developed my career with a company
that feels more like a family than a workplace.”
